When it’s a warm summer morning in Kirkfield Heating, nothing is worse than realizing your HVAC isn’t functioning the way it should. The last thing you should have to do is schedule air conditioner service. But your AC is an exceptionally involved system, so it can be hard to deduce what’s driving the problem on your own.
That’s why Kirkfield Heating & Air Conditioning made this handbook to help you see what might be happening with your air conditioner. Below, you’ll see a couple everyday situtations that explain why your home is feeling a little too warm. And even though a couple of these are simple DIY projects, you may have to turn to a skilled technician for cooling system repair.
And if that’s the case, Kirkfield Heating & Air Conditioning is ready to assist. Here are five reasons why your air conditioner may not be cooling your residence in Kirkfield Heating.
1. Your System Settings May Be Off
Every home sets their thermostat a touch differently to suit their personal needs. However, a number of people make the mistake of setting their thermostat to “On” rather than “Auto.” Because of this setting, the fan in your system will continue to blow even after you’ve attained your desired temperature.
This can look like your system is blowing out warmish air, when in fact it’s simply utilizing the fan on a more regular basis than needed. Trying changing this setting and find out if things are different.
2. Your Cooling System Needs to Be Cleaned
There are two primary spaces to investigate for dirt or dust accrual when your air conditioner doesn’t seem to be functioning correctly.
Firstly, inspect your HVAC filter. If you don’t replace your filter often enough, built-up dust can make it more challenging for air to flow through and cool your space. If your filter is noticeably dirty or dusty, it’s more than likely time for a substitute. (And for best operation, you have to change it about once every three months at a minimum.)
If your filter seems clean, go to your outdoor unit. Make sure there’s adequate clearing around your air conditioner and clean up plants or debris stuck there. This element of your system lets out the heat from inside your rooms. If the coils outside are congested, you won’t be comfortable in your home.
We advise setting professional air conditioner maintenance every year to keep your equipment running like it should and to keep your warranty valid.
3. Your AC is Leaking Refrigerant
Refrigerant is the material that conditions the air in your house. It runs between your inside and external units to absorb and let off heat, to help your home remain the right temperature. If there is a crack along the way, you won’t be cool again until you schedule professional air conditioning repair.
Signals of a refrigerant leak include a decline in cooled air, climbing power bills, frozen evaporator coils and strange hissing noises arising from your AC.
If you are worried refrigerant might be leaking, call Kirkfield Heating & Air Conditioning for air conditioner repair as soon as possible. Refrigerant can also be harmful to your family’s health.
4. One or More Pieces Need to Be Replaced
Your AC contains a few important pieces. These include the blower, evaporator coils, compressor, fan, condenser coils and expansion valve. If any one of these is not working, your home comfort declines.
Our Kirkfield Heating & Air Conditioning pros are trained and knowledged in HVAC. They can help you diagnose and repair any issue.
5. Your Whole System Has to Be Upgraded
If your equipment is older than 10 years old, it might be a good time to consider new air conditioner installation. As your system gets up there in years, it just won’t operate as well as it did in the beginning. And it could be making your home too warm.
If your air conditioner is on the younger side but still isn’t properly cooling your home, it might be undersized for your space. HVAC systems are not all the same size. An AC that’s undersized absolutely can’t chill a home the way an appropriately sized system can.
